Battery Types

Can anyone school on the differences between the different type of batteries? There seem to be a growing number.

Wet cell
AGM
Gel cell
Lithium
Lithium-ion
Lithium iron phosphate
Dry cell

Also which of these can be mounted in any position?

The problem I see, special charging system is required for each type of battery, and if used for cranking, do they have that current rating.

AGM can be mounted in any position with exception to upside down.

Gel cells preceded AGM.
