Just got back from the Good Guys show/swap meet in Des Moines. Good stuff, but they needed more Mopars.
Anyway, there was a Duster there with a 400 in it that had factory exhaust manifolds on it. Both manifolds dumped out the back, and there was VERY little clearance, but it was in there. So my question is this, is a 413 physically wider than a 400? If so, there is no way I can see it happening for me. But if they are the same width, I will try to locate the factory manifolds instead of trying to get the funds for TTIs headers. Anybody done this before? Any suggestions? I'm sure buying the headers would be easier, but I'm struggling with funds for this project, so I will try the other (cheaper) way if it seems to be possible.
Thanks,
Rob

74Duster,
The 400 is narrower than the 413-440 engines by about 2". I used a set of B body hedders and had to move one tube and dent the 2 tubes that fit around the torsion bars and had a set of under chassis hedders, that fit and worked. The tube that had to be moved was the #6 cylinder tube as it would have hit the fire wall and I just twisted it to fit in the area behind the shock tower, made a slip fit on the bottom and welded a tab on the tube that I moved and to the stub of the hedder that was left. It made it real easy to change plugs too as it took all of a minute to remove.

If you put in a 383 or 400, manifolds can be used, but like you said they're very close. You have to slightly modify the steering column and I think that the heat riser shaft needs to be modified.
