ok i got a simple question about bearing retainers on A-833 4 speed tranys!

by this picture i have seen many tranys with the seeping hole backwards pointing to the top just like in this picture

And my question is; is this a common mistake, or is it installed that way on pourpose, or did someone just make a mistake in the couple of tranys i have seen like that?

I'm no expert but I believe on the bearing side of the retainer ther is a chanel to divert the gear lube back into the case after it {the oil}goes thru the bearing. This chanel should be on the bottom so the oil gets back into the case and dosn't "fill up " and cause a leak? So if the hole your refering to is in line with the "chanel" it is installed upside down.
