Getting ready to mate the bell/tranny to my 318 this weekend. Have a few q's:
1) have a roller pilot bushing - do I tap it all the way into the crank? Out of curiosity - how do you remove it if/when it goes bad?
2) Stock early a-body v8 (small) clutch bellhousing - is it recommended to center it or do you just bolt and go? A friend helped me align a Lakewood bell a while ago on my chevy but i don't remember how we did it! :)
3) Can someone please post a pic on how the fork/thrust bearing attach or provide a link?

thanks for the help!

The bearing can be tapped in using a socket or brass drift, with the chamfered side towards the crank, til it bottoms out. If ya need to remove it, I suppose some type of puller would work.

The bellhousing and transmission is pretty much bolt and go. Bolt the tranny to the bell hand tight and install as a unit. Tighten the tranny to bell bolts to spec once everything is bolted to the engine and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Thanks - if i understand your approach, bolt the bell/trans assembly to the motor but keep the tranny loose. This assures that the tranny is centered with the crank/clutch, right?
