best distributor ?

The MP distributor is fully adjustable for mechanical and vacuum advance, this would be easier than recurving an OEM distributor. They cost about $160.

i agree, just make sure you buy the plastic shims so you can dial in the curve you want.

here is the dist. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=DCC-3690430&N=700+115&autoview=sku

the msd dist. is even easier to change the springs and actual curve but its a bit more $$

It's not worth the extra $$$ over the MP. You did say "street car". Ma Mopar made some pretty good parts. It amazes me that most new guys won't accept that fact.

I don't think its about "accepting" grumpus. Before I found this site I relied on Jegs and Summit to see what parts were available for my car. When I do a search for dist on my car, Mopar doesn't even come up as a distributor option on Jegs site. Only Mallory, MSD and Crane
Which led me to buy the MSD R2R.

This site is a huge eye opener and I thank you guys for helping us new guys.

I',m not a new guy and have been around mopars for 30+ years,as far as distributors and ignition systems go msd is far far better then mopar could ever hope to be...

Sure it does

what about the MSD ready to run dist.???

MSD, Mallory, Accel, Pertronix, DUI all have ready to run distributors for mopar engines. They will cost you more than a MP distributor for $160 and ECU for $20-60.

The pertronix if used with their coil does not require a ballast resistor.

If you type distributor in the search field, then choose engine size 6.3L 383
Mopar does not show in the results.

Even if I search by vehicle type and select distributor it does not show in results.

If you follow the link posted they have two versions for the 383; one with the orange ecu and onther with the chrome ecu.

The easiest way to find things on the Jegs site is scroll down along the left side of the main page under Product Categories and select Ingnition & Electrical. Then select Distributors then select Mopar. You then have a choice of a kit with the harness, ecu and distributor (the link I posted) or just the distributor.

I like the way the Summit web page is laid out better than Jegs but they both have the same stuff and have a lot more avaialbel for Mopar than what is listed in the paper catalogs.
