I have a 71 demon with a 383 looking to upgrade the radiator looking for opinions and should I run an electric fan or keep the clutch fan on it

If you already have a 22 inch radiator, just have it recored for a three row. Nothing beats the look of the original radiator.

The factory style HP / AC radiator.

Most be sure your fan pump, pulleys, and thermostat are all correct for the application.

Why do you need to upgrade the radiator?

And for God's sake don't put electric fans on there

I was told a while ago to go with a 4 core radiator after I bought it. I haven't had any problems with the one I have but I haven't driven it much.i am just now able to actually fix it up and have a weekend driver.

My dad always said:

"The parts you don't add, don't cause you no trouble"

And

"If it ain't broke don't fix it"

Words to live by!

Drive it. Find out for yourself if it actually needs a radiator, and don't get hung up on the "latest and greatest" carousel. We've been building and cooling these cars just fine for fifty years... Don't worry about electric fans with a mild street build. Keep it simple, keep it enjoyable.
If you feel like you have to replace something, get rid of that upper flex hose and the plastic fuel filter. One looks cobbled and the other is dangerous.

Do a search for this subject. A ton of info. A single or dual core is best, has more surface area than the 3 or 4 cores. Most people don’t like the 3/4 core rads.

As for old school or new school, to each there own. I’m running a BeCool rad and twin electric fans. My car sits at 170/180 all day long.

A friend is running a cold case with a 5 blade fan and has no problems.

So pick what ya want.

Electric fans vs OEM fan is a wash. If you don't need the electric fans for other reasons, keep your mechanical fan. And if you haven't tested the new motor with the old radiator, at least try it. Some motors just run super efficient and dont' need an upgrade. You can always upgrade if you don't like the results.
