I just bought a pull behind camper. Its 13 yrs old and all the area around the fans, ac, vents etc. Need to resealed. Im Looking for a white, waterproof, UV resistant sealer. What's best best way, besides Complete stripping, to prepare the surface. The sealer will be on metal, hard plastic, and heavy , thick vinyl.

Don't use anything from the hardware store. Go to Camping World, and get caulking made specifically for RV's. You will need 2 different kinds. They sell a self-leveling style for use up on the rubber roof, around the vents and anything else up there. Cover screw heads with it too. If it were me, I would get new vent covers and install them. Just the part that rolls up and down. They get baked by the sun, and will crack and start leaking right when you don't need for them to! There is a different type caulk for the corner seams. Caulk around all of the lights and windows. Look in the section at Camping World where the caulk is, and there should be some cleaner to use that won't harm the EPDM rubber roof. Our camper is set up permanently in a campground in Myrtle Beach, and I clean the rubber roof 3 or 4 times a year. I use Blue Coral car wash soap to clean it with instead of bleach, as it's not as harsh. Good luck to you, and enjoy it. :)

As above around roof fixtures .

SIKAflex for caulking, UV resistant, great for marine boats too .
WOW !! You have definitely been there done that !! Thank you

Also, there is a product call KoolSeal (sp), once it's all said & done, use that stuff to coat the roof. It's a sealer & it's reflective, keeping the interior temps cooler. I've used it on many travel trailers & RVs.

This is the best stuff right here Quad

Buy it at your home builder store.

Caulk it on, quick wipe with a wet finger within 20 seconds before it starts to set. One wipe that is it, don't over work it.

Clean up for the caulk is fast dry enamel reducer.

Stays put does not go away.

6 bucks a tube.

Good luck, have used it on RVs and tow behind trailers, sealing the roofs.
Can be painted too after full cure, a few days.

If it's a rubberized membrane roof, please be careful which products you use.
I had the misfortune of using an automotive " solvent/acetone/brake clean" stuff in prepping for caulking, and overnight the whole area " melted", lost adhesion, and fluttered and flapped as you drove down the road.

Get your info from Camping World, and the proper self-leveling chaulk, that's removable, cuz the membrane stretches, and needs doing every few years
Good luck .

The truth is Spoken here!

You will need both types of Decor sealants!

If you don't need to paint over it, use silicon. Lasts forever. When I had my GTO painted in 1997, I told the body shop I was going to use silicon to install the windscreens. Huh? 'You can't do that'...
'Why not', I said, 'Dow Corning make a silicon glass sealer'.
Windscreens have been in 24 yrs, good as new, no leaks.

Dicore self levelling for the roof. No need to remove it to touch it up once it's down. No issues on my unit.
