I currently have 440 with KB pistons 10.1 compression, Performer RPM manifold, Holley 750 DP, 3.73 rearend gears, 3000 stall, headers 2 1/2 exhaust, with stock 906 heads & rocker arms and competion cam 431 / 434 I am looking for cam suggestions. it's in a 65 Dart that weighs about 3,000lbs.

First what would be the biggest cam I could use before I would need to do some work on the heads (double valve springs, and new rockers etc) Second what would be the optimum cam specs if I did do some work on the heads? Looking for something streetable, but with better upper RPM power than what I currently have.

What do you do with the car? Like, 75% cruising, 15% local cruise nights, 10% racing? Do you have power brakes? What size primary tubes on the headers? (is this the car from the exh posts?) Which KB pistons? flat tops, quench domes?

I am planning on using the car 50% street 50% race. What I am really wondering is it worth my while to replace the cam, with the way my heads are currently setup (stock) or I am better off getting some work done on the heads to better work with a bigger cam? The exhaust is the custom headers I have posted here, pistons are flat top.

I've run stock heads way into the 12s withstock ports, single springs, stock rockers, old pushrods, and mild hydraulics. Some even only got new valve seals with the new springs, no valve job or anything. If it's 50% race, I'd cam it. IMO, you'll want something to help the exh get pushed out, because I dont think the headers you have will scavenge at all. I'd suggest soemthing like a Crane 643801. Here's the link:
http://cranecams.com/?show=browsePa...-440 C.I.&partNumber=643801&partType=camshaft

You want something that has more lift and duration on the exh side, and I'd say keep the choices under .500 lift. They will work with single springs, but you may want to make sure they'll work with your existing springs, if you dont plan to change them.
