Common problem. 2003 Dakota blower motor resistor and plug. Original owner gave me a new replacement kit when I bought the truck. He had done it once about 8 years ago.

Interesting- my 2000 Dakota has not (knock on wood) had that issue. It has however had that same problem with the ECU plug that controls the alternator. Left me walking one day. I put a fuse in line before the plug on that circuit set for the same draw as the alternator. It blows before the plug melts down. Sucks having to change the fuse but I’ve yet to have to be towed home. Even the dealer cannot understand why it happens.
