Best bolt remover ever... got a bolt/nut that just won't let loose and you can't wait for that after market stuff to work, try heating up the nut, bolt (threat area) then dab a chuck of candle wax on the area. The wax will phisiclly "wick" down into the treads.

As we know heat is the best, however most products will evaporate as soon as you apply and reversing the exspanison. Wax will not.

I have used this methed for about 2 years now and only snapped a few bolts that were welded together. It's worth a try. :angel9:

Any comments:

The wax trick is very trick - works great. Now, Jimmy boy, I've been wondering what it was about the front of your Valiant that was catching my eye but not registering in my slow old brain!! What colour is that front bumber? Come on, fess up now. :)

OK...OldVart my friend,..I have no secrets :---) and this is no crap, I could not afford to get them suckers re-chromed for $800.00 after they were completely deplated so I just primed them with that "Yellow" metal protecter crap and ...get this...how about your reqular can of high heat cheap chrome spray.
Your the first out right comment on them, however I have told many guys I wanted to get them chromed to match the rest of the car and everyone said I should leave it be because it didn't turn out too shabby. :salute:

I use the wax all the time at the machine shop where I work- nobody else in the shop believes it works but I haven't had a problem with it yet. There's a certain trick to applying it though and that takes a little practice. Goodson has wax sticks that work really good- I know candles work but these already come in a small stick shape that way you don't waste any.

Thanks for the info. :) I've been checking around in Edmonton for shops to get my 66 Signet bumbers straightened and rechromed, and I'm about in the same boat as you - STICKER SHOCK!! Man, I just want to rechrome these things, not buy shares in your plating company! I'd been thinking of doing about the same thing as you, for a start at least. There's definitely areas on the car that could benifit from that $800.00 before the bumpers get new chrome. The couple of little dings and slight twist in the rear bumber I can straighten myself, and I doubt the primer and rattle can chrome will break the bank. :)

You are right there Sid, I looked around for bumpers and have seen some here and there but in much worse shape then mine. Go for the quick fix and no doubt you will trip over a good pair some day :salute:
PS No pics of your wheels?

That's what I was thinking - wait it out. My 66 Signet is currently on the rotisserie for a full-on rebuild so I don't have any current pics, except on the spinner. I've had this thing for 28 years now, and went through the original 273, a heated up 318, and have had a warmed over 360 in in for the past 15 years. This time it needs frame connectors, it's getting Caltracs, I have a 8 3/4 - 3:23 diff., and enlarged wheel wells. I've got 225x60x14 BFG's on there now but need more skins for the power and weight of the vehicle. Details, details, details. :)

Wow looking at your Signet brings back memories for me. It looks so similar to a Dart Gt that I first bought in 1979. Spent two years rebuilding it. Won a street race or two. Then the x killed it in a Dukes of Hazzard style jump. It's in heaven and I wish the x was in ---- well you know. Sorry way off topic!

Hey Bob:
If you noticed, my login name is OldVart, and it's for a good reason. In Canada in 1966, the Valiant Signet was built as a Dodge Dart GT, then had all the Valiant stainless, insignia, etc., added to the basic GT package. If I run the VIN it shows up as a Dart GT, 2 dr ht, 273 V8, deluxe trim package, 2/3 vinyl roof, etc, etc. I got so tired of explaining to people over the past 28 years I've owned this car that it's a Valiant, NOT a Dart, that I eventually started telling the know-it-all types that it's a 66 Vart. And since both me and the car are OLD, I came up with OldVart. :)
My Ex drove this Vart for years, caught the carb on fire once, but never wrecked it. Actually, she blew away more than her fair share of Chivvie and Ferds with it over the years. Oh well, still way off topic!! :)

Looks like we kinda' got off topic in this thread, so I might as well carry on off-topic. I've been home with a miserable cold for the past few days, so I took the time to set up a page on Car Domain, sort of an ongoing restoration page for the Signet. Try this link and see if it works for you.

Works Sid, I'm there as well. Left you a comment :thumbrig:

Sid, When I got the Dart finished the first show I went to was The Street Machine Nationals in Indy. After I got parked I noticed about three rows away a blue Signet. Never saw or heard of one before that. Met my first Canadians also, great guys but had a funny accent unlike my Ky. accent.
