Same engine, same 904 transmission, except it is rebuilt, original flexplate, new Hughes converter. Transmission is bolted in and now I need to slide the torque converter slightly forward to meet the flexplate to bolt it up. I need to slide it 3/16" to meet the flexplate. (I measured it by using a drill bit as a gauge and fit a 3/16" bit between them.) I know I don't want the torque converter bottomed out against the transmission, but I'm concerned that pulling it up 3/16" may be too far. I did not change flexplates.
Does this sound normal????

yes...usually about an 1/8 of an inch...so you are in the ball park...

. You are supposed to have some movement there. You dont want the torque converter pushing on the crank. Dont put washers between !

Thanks to all who replied. No washers, I'm bolting her in this week!
