Happy New Year everyone!

So I did the search feature on the Mopar borgeson ps box and could not find anything on where some one actually used one on a early A (64-66) with an small block and headers.

If anyone has please chime in. Back in 2020 jimharvard did a great detail about a second Gen Barracuda with a BB and this steering gear. But that has a larger engine bay frame width than the early Abodies.

I’m looking to replace the FF ps box with the Borgeson ps box and use Doug’s headers and I am confused about steering shaft being able to line up as the info from jimharvard states the a bodies (67-76) the ps box input shaft is off from factory shaft alignment. Also, is the Borgeson u joint smaller in diameter that the factory square block set up. thanks!

I have the Borgeson box in my 66 with Doug's headers and a standard trans, no fitment issues at all. I used an adapter from Bergman for the shaft. It was a direct bolt in, snug but that's the way things are in the early Abodys.

Gold66cuda-

thank you.
I want to call today and order and speak with them but your reply just made me a whole lot better about the purchase. I will assume the factory 66’ pump (273 Thompson style or Chrysler style as some call it) lines need to be custom made as I will not be using the saganaw style. I could make custom brackets but honestly like the factory style pump. Thank you again-

I would assume that any of the factory issued pumps will work with it. I used a reduced pressure Saginaw pump for a better feel. As far as the lines go you just need adapters on the box as it has metric threads. Peter at Bergman Auto Craft carries all the bits you need.

Can you make a thread on your work converting over to the PS Bogesen box. I have 65 Barracuda that I would like to do the same thing to. The only thing is I have TTI headers so I know it does make a difference.

And thanks for bringing this up!

Sure! I’ve got the engine out of the car for upgrades and I’m planning on installing the box on the k frame and installing without the engine in place to verify line up and making sure wheels are straight then unbolting k frame for engine reassembly. I will take pics and perform a write up. Because it’s winter here in CT I possibly will not road test until spring. The amount of junk they put on the roads here would rot my car out in no time. Lol!

I just did this on my 66.

Its a slam dunk but minor tweaks needed for the early a.

wow- that pump looks way out of alignment.
Am I seeing that correctly? I’m going to run the factory pump.
Thanks for photos I appreciate it,

The cast iron wp small blocks require a unique pulley that isnt reproduced. It has a high offset towards the pump
