Should the rod coming from booster be adj so there is no contact with master cylinder, just a little or what. Replacing master cylinder and the rod appears to pushing into master cylinder about 1/8 inch. Tried turning the ball on the end all the way in but still puts a little pressure on master cylinder.

What does the FSM say?

I recall from Ford's there should be small amount of play

None I have done had any "preload" on them after adjustment, but never say never. Is it a complete kit you are putting on or just an aftermarket master ? Adjust it all the way down and check for dragging after short test drive (if it makes it out of garage).

No fsm, I think no preload is what I'm going to do, may have to do some massaging of the rod or space the master cylinder away from booster. Its just a after market master cylinder.
