My removed '68 Dart drum brake master cylinder had no body gasket. The new replacement cylinder has no gasket, nor is one listed on RockAuto. Is this the correct configuration? If so, seems like a poor design.
It should hav a gasket but they tear and deteriorate over time. OE Gaskets are a white foam type material. Detroit Muscle carries them.

Thanks. If my car had one, it has deteriorated into nothing. There's no remnant of any sort. I imagine a foam gasket could do that.
I often cut one from a piece of home construction "sill gasket"
