Brake Pedal Disconnect! Help

OK, this is going to sound goofy, but I just got this 67 Dart project car and was under the dash looking at the brake light switch. I pulled the brake pedal toward me and the stem that goes through the fire wall came right out ops: I put it back through the hole, but it just seems bizzare. Do I have a big problem? The stem goes into what, the MC or prop valve...yikes. Any feedback would be appreciated.

brake pushrod goes into a pocket in the MC. it should have a rubber grommet on the end that helps it stay in the MC. sounds like you're misssing the grommet or it rotted out.

Time to rebuild/replace the Master.
