broken distributor part

On the bottom of my distributor where it goes into the engine there is a plastic looking cog that has one of the teeth missing. since I'm rebuilding the engine I'm curious if this part is usable or can I get one somewhere. Sorry I don't have the mechanical knowledge about this but I know you guys can steer me in the right direction.:salut:

Its the distributor drive gear, its easily replaced & should be replaced

I believe they can stll be bought thru most auto parts stores, if not I have seen them on ebay

Most anywhere. Standard/BlueStreak #DG11, NAPA Echlin #DG404, Chrysler 2084 653, many other suppliers. Installation is not as obvious as it might look; see here for detailed instructions. You may want to take the opportunity to do the HEI upgrade.
