After looking over a few of the other member's engine saddle builds, decided to make 3 of my own.

21" long x 20" wide

21 x 20, 3/4" plywood base
21" long 2 x 8s (2 x 10s if you got them)
21" long 2 x 6 for the feet

3 1/2" Deck Screw them together.

Done Deal . . .

Can set them on the roller dollies for moving them around, or slide them on to your pallet racking for engine storage.

3 Crates, ready for 3 engines.

Can screw these down to my flat bed trailers, along with some synch straps for transporting engines too.

Looks great. I build mine on more or less the same principle, but used available scrap lumber so not nearly as tidy looking. Then I added legs to bring it up to work height. Mine has 2x4s across the base instead of plywood.

Those look great! Might be a good idea to add some angle braces to both ends of each upright if they will be used for transport. 1/2" EMT conduit with a flat mashed on each end and screwed to the upright and bottom would keep it from yawing over in a curve.

That's a good idea, conduit better than wood that can split up the grain.

Thanks

Had some left over Alder wood I dropped off at the shop of my favorite local carpenter. Edit: Thanks for the idea.
