burned out console light

This is kind of dumb, but anyone know how to change the light in an 68 Dart automatic console?

if you have a small hand you can reach up from the drivers side and pull the socket out. getting it in needs patience.

:-D:toothy10: wellllll..........hmmmm long needle nose pliers??? you may have to take all 4 screws loose and lift the console up a bit.

nope. Actually, I don't know if this is stock, but there is a carpet piece connected to the console that hangs down over the transmission hump, and I just reached in an felt around. Like lots of little things on this car, the socket was hanging down and was easy to find. The hole where it mounts was easy too, and I just held the whole thing in two fingers and put it back. It works, illuminated PRND21! Why are the dumbest things are so satisfying?

Yeah the factory cut away a section of the console for access to wiring conections under there. They covered it with carpet. Many have a reverse lamp switch and lighter well connection along with the indicater lamp.
