buying used motor

i know a guy not that well but has a 87 318 with a 904 trans and he says it has aluminum intake and ran well i think it came out of a aspen wagon is 300 too much or should i grab it thanks for all response either good or bad or just laughing at my build lol

buy it up! a 318 with trans for less then 500 is always a great deal the 340's and 360's are getting harder to find

p.s. aspens quit being made in 1980 so it couldent have came from one unless it too was placed in the wagon after the fact

ya we have 2 318s laying around in the garage a 360 a 340 2 440s and a 400 not to mention the other 2 318's in my brothers ramcharger and in my dart swinger never let a mopar motor go aside from slant six's though we had 2 of those laying around for a bit

well the thing is i am finacially challenged so should i bite several bullets or not, i know i need to get you guys #s on motor and plan on doing this over the weekend but what i am looking at is i have a tired 318 in my dart and want to rebuild one on the cheap so i am at a disadvantage at throwing money at it i dont have i know it seems like a good deal but i cant hear motor cause its out of car any tips would be great

as long as u have a block with crank and pistons you can go anywere from there get a good set of heads and boom you have a hot rod motor we have 318s from trucks and cars once you rebuild them its all good

$300 isn't bad at all, especially if it has an edelbrock on it. Figure the intake is probably worth around $100, so $200 for the engine. If it runs its worth it, as long as you're not worried about putting 100k miles on it. Even if it turns out to need a rebuild, you could probably get your money back parting it out.

The real question is, do you have a project for it? And does it fit with the goal of the project? Ie, I have a complete roller I'd really like to have run now and I'll fix it up nice later/as needed, vs, I really want this project to be a nice show car/race car/whatever.

its my driver and so i got watch my funds i want to buy it but i dont want a boat anchor eithier i reckon i will do the deal and see if he will take a lil at a time i figure 3 payments wont kill me , hell i like boloney lol sortof lol
