I have 73-up sliding calipers. The dust boot is torn on one caliper but other than that they both seem to work properly and don't leak. Is there any way I can just replace the dust boot without rebuilding/replacing the caliper? The book I have doesn't have a procedure other than removing the piston, which I would think would require a rebuild.

The caliper bore has a groove cut just below the rim that captures the dust boot behind the piston. The piston will need to come out to access to groove.

I was afraid someone might say that! Sounds like it's rebulid/replace caliper time. Is the rebuild pretty straightforward? These calipers seem pretty simple to me.

Or, in the easy fix department, is there anything I can use to repair the torn boot?
