Is this true or untrue?
The man at the salvage yard told me that there is a difference between a one bbl and a two bbl exhaust manifold
I have herd there is now difference.
I am looking for a manifold to do some mod work to so I can put a 21/4"
pipe on an do some grinding to and match gaskets.
They want 50 dollar's for one pulled and ready to go.
I have a offy 4 bbl to go on top of it.
It looks like I have 1 1/2" pipe on the 170 66 valiant know.

But I will put new motor mounts on first, Hoping it will give ne more clearance, the old mounts are factory 66 and are sagging and my oil pan is very close to my K member, and I will do one thing ate a time.
then mopar's electronic ignition next, so I have time before the intake and exhaust will be changed out. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Mike,:-D

$50 for a manifold is not that bad. It will cost almost that much to have one shipped to you. 1 or 2 barrel doesn't matter for what you want, they are the same but I have heard the 2 barrel has a larger outlet. Don't know how true that is. Don't know if I would take the flapper out since you may have too much exhaust hitting the bottom of the intake without it. The flapper is not as much of a restriction as you would think if it is working. The restriction (tater) is upstream from there where the manifold makes the bend to come away from the engine into the outlet. That 90 degree bend necks down to a space barely larger than one exhaust port, at least it did in the 3 I cut up. If you can get one locally that has a working heat riser and the intake to exhaust bolts are not broken off, go for it. You will be money ahead in the long run.

Thanks grumpuscreacure.
I will keep the heat riser in. I will get some measurements of the one I have in the 66 and make sure the exit flange is going in the sam direction.
I sprayed the bolts down that hold the pipe to the exhaust manifold and keep it sprayed down for a couple days, liquid wrench.
Thank you again bud :-D

Hey Memike, is that plymouth an auto or man trans. I guy here in Indiana has a mostly complete four speed set up for an early A-body 6cyl forsale, not sure the price however I can find out if your interested!

Three speed standard I am very happy with it,
Thank you anyway IndianaDodge:cheers:

Get a gallon of PB Blaster and toss the liquid wrench. You will be glad you did. Exhaust manifolds are all the same 1 or 2 BBL.

Urban legend. The only functional differences between slant exhaust manifolds regard the choke pockets and emissions provisions. Super Six/2bbl cars had 2 1/4" HEADPIPES, but the exhaust manifolds were the same.

Thanks 66acuda, My son is bringing me some today from his shop.
I just happend to be on the phone yesterday with him and ask him what PB blaster is!! I quess they use it too, Thanks.

you could have the exhaust manifold bored out to 2 1/4" if you know someone/machineshop. All the manifolds were 2" diameter.

Yep. The biggest differences have been the choke pocket design, the design of that manifold heat flapper thing, and that some later manifolds had an oxygen sensor. The later ones also added stiffening ribs. But any factory slant six manifold will work on any slant six.
