Caltracs are they worth it?

So I was thinking about getting my truck to hook before I worried about throwing money at the motor and wondered were Caltracs really worth the the money? If so do they work better with monoleafs or will standard leafs work fine? Not really sure about this stuff I always just street raced when I was younger so I have no knowledge of this stuff. Questions regarding a 4200# truck obviously most of the weight is over the front end.
 
Depends on what you want to do with it. If you are going to narrow the rear and install tubs for big tires than I would just go 4 link. If you want to keep the leaf springs then Caltracs are your best bet. Call Calvert and discuss your vehicle with them before deciding on what springs to use if you decide to go that route.
 
I would perfer to keep the leafs so it can go back to stock whenever. Are these even ok to use on a daily driver? It is gonna pull double duty weekend racer and daily driver. Also do they even make monos for trucks?
 
You can loosen them up a little for street use without a problem and you'll just have to call them on the springs but since they are custom made I don't think it would be a problem.

Hmm,really? I KNOW I can make caltracs for next to nothing,but assasins look more involved. And are they compatible with the rest of the stock rear suspension? Just looking for any additional costs beyond the assasin bar.

Caltracs are a simple bolt on deal..
 
Ya theres a post around here to make cal tracs for less than 100, I WANT SOME!
 
Thanks guys for the input. Abodybomber actually called Calverts yesterday for me and got some answers. They said I can run my factory leafs and lower it still with no problems. They recommended buying their shocks (of course they would) but what kinda shocks does everybody run?
 
Ya calvert sells those silly expensive QA-1 shocks.

Are you daily driving the car or just a weekend warrior? All track?
 
Buy the best shock you can afford. Cal Tracks work the shocks/springs - HARD! If you can't control the rear with shocks, things won't go well.

The shocks Calvert sells are the Rancho shocks. Calvert bought the items from Rancho, when Rancho decided to discontinue them. They are the minimum shock I would suggest. There are some others that can work, QA adjustables, etc.
 
What about the ride????? Do they make a lot of unwanted noise??? Been thinking about cal tracks for the duster--I already have the QA1 on the back

It will be pulling double duty. Won't be racing every weekend but a couple times a month hopefully. It says on their site they can be used on daily drivers as well.
