Cam swap help needed-small block magnum

A chevy friend is coming by to help change the cam in my '318 Magnum build. What does he need to know before he begins ie: settings etc..

I don't know if the 318 Magnum is like this but when the timing marks on the cam are lined up, the distributor is @ #6 firing not #1 like a Chevy when the marks are lined up. This has tricked more than a few GM and ex-GM guys (which is what I am).
