I'm getting ready to start my hunt for a V8 for my '65 barracuda. I have my V8 center link, motor mounts, and '65 exhaust manifolds. I want to buy this ' 68 B- body 318 and 904 W/ drive shaft combo I found for sale real close to me. My question is whats the best route for me to take to swap this into my car??? I want to keep my cable linkage stock slap stick shifter. Can anyone help with this??? Do they make anything I can use to hook up my shifter??? Or can I take the set up and switch it to the other trans.????

I'm assuming it was a 6 cylinder. if you use the newer v-8 waterpump housing you may be able to re-use the original radiator if not you'll need one of those. you need to find a early cable shift trans, or at least a case as the 6 trans is the same except for the bellhousing pattern. you'll need to keep your shifter setup. you will need a v-8 wiring loom and gas pedal with linkage. are you planning on going with dual exhaust? I think you'll need the trans cross member to fit the exhaust. if you use single the 6 cyl. cross member will work fine. I'm in southern california and probably have access to everything you would need. I could even come up with a 273 hi-po engine, maybe even the Commando aircleaner, I'd have to check. at one point my Dad had over 20 complete Barracudas ranging from 1964 through 1972.
let me know

Yes!!! I would love to just get the early HiPO 273!!!!! With 904. I haven't been able to get one near enouph to me to make it worth while. Please check on everything for me and let me know. If the motor is too much I'll still want the trans. and everything else you mentioned. And definately going with duel exhaust.Thanks.
