I heard there was a gasket shortage but this is ridiculous!!!!

everywhere I have tried to get a gasket from is out of stock.

I had one ordered through yearone and when I didnt receive my parts I got suspicious so I emailed them and THEN they decided to tell me it was on back order with no known delivery date as the supplier themselves were having issues.

I have tried dantes, year one, ebay, auto parts warehouse, local auto parts suppliers, even my glass guy told me he didnt have access to any and to look around and try to find one!.

does anyone know of a place that would actually have this in stock and that won't cost and arm and a leg?

year one had them priced at $87.00 and autoparts warehouse had them priced at $74.00 and another place had them at $63.00 (which are all on the cheap side I know).

Im looking for the front windshield gasket for a 1972 Plymouth Duster

Thanks in advance for the help.....or if someone here on fabo has a new one sitting on a shelf or something that they would be willing to sell, let me know.

thanks

I had already checked with some of those and had no luck.

anyone else

Buy used or use old one.

Put on gloves, Sit down for 4 hours and clean it with rags and mineral spirits.
Now that it's all clean and looking like malformed bacon, hang it up to dry for 2 days before using again.

Peace out:happy10:

Call Jeff Deutchmann at Deutchmann Automotive out of Bowling Green, Ohio. He advertizes in most of the Mopar magazines. He may have one, and he is always $5-10.00 cheaper than most everyone else. He does a lot of soft products for Mopars. Tell him I sent you!!! Good luck, Geof

I got minefrom saflite auto glass but cindy rowe is connected with. Try fmmpar on ebay.

I'm in the same boat trying to find window gaskets for a '71 Duster. One of the folks I called told me there had been a fire at the factory where the gaskets are make. No idea if that's correct - but something like that might explain the shortage. I was told that one of them (front or back) would be available in June. The other was unknown. Bummer! I had someone lined up to paint my car and now I'm on hold 'till the gaskets reappear on the market.

Hard to believe that there's only one source. Hopefully another source will turn up soon. If anyone finds a place where I can get gaskets - pls let us know.

Dang man, do you have a sense of humor with everything you do? That's awesome.

wow, thats just plain bizarre. not available anywhere, when they were once so easy to get...would this be the same problem for a 70 dart? 68 cuda, or any a-body? next weekend is the mopar spring fling, i will go and keep an eye out for you. there are supposed to be many venders there...ill grab one for ya if i find one, if u still need one by then...

just called...they wanted $418 for a 70 duster windshield, $10 for what they called a ''locking strip'', I asked if this was the gasket, they said ''I dont know''.

I wish I could find a 67 valiant windshield....

I wasn't kidding about the mineral spirits. Messy job takes about 8 - 10 hours total (for me) They turn out like new. Have done several due to the 4 door front glass seal has always been impossible to find. I have to do every dart we get, so I got a spare from the junk yard here, cleaned it up, and now have one hanging ready, when installed I take the next one and clean it up too.

Good Luck man. Our 4 door windshields are almost impossible too.

Also 1 more try. Call this dude from precision. He is in prototypes department. Ask him whats up whith the gaskets. See what he knows. Remind him of FABO's member count. It will sound familar to him due to me mentioning it, but...
DO NOT MENTION MY NAME!! or where you got the number. You didn't get it here, NOT JOKING!!!!

Precision
Research & development (prototypes scheduling)
800-367-8241, ext. 235 "Kenny"

AGAIN!, you did NOT get his number here, NO BS!!! NOT KIDDING!!:read2:

Good Luck and if Kenny changes his ext number, we will have you to thank, and he is my ONLY prototypes engineer at Precision that I had gotten the number for by their mistake. Walk softly there my friend we don't want to piss him off at us!!!!

That should keep ya busy for a while unless you already called them.
Chow for now all!

PS FABO;
Might as well start a chrome turn down exhaust tip shortage too. Had exhaust done on our swinger 3 weeks ago and still no chrome turn downs in stock. Our place has 58 tips on back order for Darts, Chrome Plant in Japan down sense the big one. Now a mad rush on those I guess.

I put in a call to Jeff at Deutchmann for you and another member. I'll let you know what he says!! Geof
