Neither the O'Reilly nor the NAPA replacement heater cores fit the heater box in my 66 Barracuda. Both look very close to the original but the pipes won't clear the holes enough to seat the core's frame.

Anyone have any suggestions for an aftermarket core they've used successfully?

I don't think the original one can be fixed - it looks pretty bad. It's a non-AC car.

I ran into the same problem when I replaced the core in my 68 Dart. Ended up going to what I call an old school parts house. The one they ordered in for me fit the box fine.

Mine looked REALY bad it cost me 50.00 bucks to get it fix go get it cheked before you buy one any rad shop will let you know

I replaced the heater core in my 65 Barracuda with a core made by Spectra bought at Autozone. It fit perfectly and I believe 65 and 66 are the same and both A/C and none A/C cars use the same core.

Autozone said it would take a week, so I took my old one and the NAPA one to a radiator shop. They swapped the pipes and tank onto the new core and it worked like a charm.

I highly recommend Art's Radiator in Spring Valley (San Diego area).
