I have a sticker that says my Car is Nox equipped!?
WhatintheHeck is that?!?! and how do I "Un-Equip" it...

Also I have a "Velocity Stack" Air Cleaner. Does anybody still Run one of these? I would love to get a Hood with a scoop... Or maybe switch to a Dual Cold Air Intake Style Air Cleaner for my Holley 600. Experts?

'NOX' = Nitrous Oxide? If you don't have a nitrous tank in the trunk then the sticker is bogus.

NOx = Oxides of Nitrogen = part of smog/acid rain

Acid rain forms when NOx and sulfur dioxide react with other substances in the air to form acids, which fall to earth with rain, fog, snow or dry particles.

What is NOx?
NOx is the generic name for a group of highly reactive gases that contain varying amounts of NO and NO2. NOx tends to be colorless and odorless.

Where does NOx come from?
Common sources of NOx are motor vehicles (49%), electric utilities (27%),
and other industrial, commercial and residential sources (19%) that burn fuels.

How does a diesel engine create NOx?
When high temperatures and pressures occur in-cylinder during combustion, the air molecules O2 and N2 combine to form NO (nitric oxide). As exhaust gases leave the engine, the temperature decreases, and a small amount of NO combines with O2 to form NO2 (nitrogen dioxide). The majority of NOx is NO.

What he said. Oxides of nitrogen are one of the gasses the EPA mandates levels for. As the temperatures in the chamber go up, usually as a result of lean or pre-ignition, the oxides of nitrogen go way up.

Wow! Neat-O... Um gotcha ;)

i don't know how old your car is but here is the deal/being nox equipped meant your car had an electronic/vacuum device installed to help the car reduce emissions at the tail pipe they were usually mounted on the fender well and the vac line was t"ed into the vac advance line for the distributor, when i lived in San Diego in the 80's we had the (smog box) a kit we made up which contained a thermostatic air cleaner, nox box, and a vac advance distributor along with a tube to go from the headers to the air cleaner /when someone needed to get a smog check done on their car we would install all this ,take the car to a smog station for the test and then remove all this garbage and store it till someone else needed it so we could keep the registration on our hotrods current! at that time cars over 20 years old were exempt.

The EGR system was also designed to reduce NOx emissions, although lowered compression ratios were the main method employed at the time.

As for the hood scoop or dual snorkel setup, I'd go with the dual snorkel myself. Now, will a true cold air intake system make enough more power to justify the additional weight and complexity? Perhaps. Would a hood scoop be better at impressing the ladies? Probably.
