The previous owner installed a spread bore Eddy intake and a Eddy Performer carb without any spacers. I kept having hot starting troubles and installed a square plastic 1" spacer which help fix the hot start problem.

But noticed today while the motor was running that it was whistling noise. Found out the carb gasket was leaking. This is the order in which I had the gaskets installed:

intake
square bore gasket
spacer
spacer gasket
carb

It was leaking around the intake and the square bore gasket. What do I need to do to correct the problem. I am going to get two new regular gaskets and try that but just wondering if this correct. When I bought the spacer I bought it to macth the carb not the intake. The previous owner had a thin metal gasket which was not spread bore between the carb and intake and it did not leak.

if that plate was cad plated, that is what comes with eddy carbs to put on their standard manifolds(spread bore) with the eddy carbs. you can use that if desired. the plasitc probably warped. get the metal or wood one if you want a thicker spacer.

The spacer I bought is that phenmatic (misspelled) type stuff to cut down on heat transfer.

If I installed

intake
gasket
thin metal spacer
gasket
1" spacer
gasket
carb

Do you think the thin metal spacer would help far as warpage? Dog gone it I would hate to have to buy a different spacer again! LOL!

Try to tighten it up somemore.

Or

Deleate the Edelbrock spacer and just run the plastic unit with gaskets up hi and low only.
