Carolina machine engines-
Has anyone actually bought one of their engines and had success with them.
Reviews are okay - but just okay.
Before I spend the cash for them I’d like a few reviews from trusted FABO members.
I did a FABO search and a lot of “ohs” and “nahs “ but not a lot worth info.
Accept RRR offering to help build one for a Florida resident.
I’d go locally but the shop I trust - Larry Machine in Groton CT always advertised on another site- Moparts.com is 16 weeks out.
I cannot find what happened to the MoPar performance engines any-longer.
Thanks in advance. Syleng1

I don’t have experience with Carolina machine engines, but I do with Blueprint Engines. Have you looked into them at all?

I called them to get info about a 4.7 motor for my wife's Dakota, as they advertised that they had them in stock. The guy I talked to seemed bothered by questions I was asking about pistons, valve seats, etc. He/they acted like they didn't give a damn about whether I bought their engine or not. I chose not! They may do good work, but the customer service sucks. I ended up buying a 4.7 from Powertrain Inc. and couldn't be happier. Good luck with your purchase.....wherever it's from. :)

A friend of mine used them to rebuild his 273. Commando using 2 barrel pistons. Dynoed at 265 HP. Seemed to be knowledgeable and thorough. I have not talked to him for a while, can't give an up to date report. The other machine shop I'd absolutely trust is in Maryland.

What’s the one in Maryland? Never know when you’ll need it

I bought a Blueprint engines 408 fully dressed motor back in 2008-2009. It came with different components than what currently comes on the “dressed” 408. Not a bad thing, just not a apples to apples thing. I have been very happy with my motor. I definitely ran it for over 60,000 street miles and well over 1000 passes, before I pulled it apart to bump compression with a piston change. It came with a scat cast crank and scat h beams rods. At tear down the bores were straight and round. The crank was straight still. I abused and ran this motor hard and am still running the block and rotating assembly. None of the issues I found during tear down were the result of the original build quality or component selection.

No- I tried to look at Mopar Performance but I guess that they no longer do crate engines thru Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep dealer anylonger. :(

What level of engine are you looking for?
Just looking to replace a 318 in a duster I bought that’s tired with a 300hp and with time being hard to make- a good rebuilt engine with some goodies is a shorter project for me a self employed guy balancing time, family, and money.
