I've never given this little part a second thought but after stripping the car down for paint and removing this item from the carpet I started to look at pictures of other original '65's and have not seen one. As far back as I can remember it's been there, my uncle bought the car new the year he graduated high school and lived next door so I have a lot of memories of the car. It's all original except for the Cragars, radio, outside mirror, has 29,*** miles on the ticker and has been sitting since 1982.
Anyway the item is the little SS plate, carpet saver?, next to the gas pedal. Fits the trans hump perfectly so I wonder, was this an option?
This is the only pic of the part and now that the cars stripped all the parts are tucked away until it gets back from paint. I'm not doing anything to the interior except re-do the buckets, new carpet and a new dash panel.
Just for kicks, my Uncle Rick in '66 the day he got the new Cragars.
