Battery is OK (tried 3 different 9 volt batteries altogether). The unit is just plain dead, pulling the trigger used to turn it on. I repaired my Dremel tool (broken wire) after finding a youtube video explaining that common problem and how to fix it yourself. In this case, I doubt I will ever see it function again. I have dropped it a few times, but not lately.

I have a dead HF video scope camera I'd like to fix.

We had a guy in town years ago that could fix all that stuff. He told me most of the repairs were simple bad solder joints of capacitors. He fix two Schumacher battery chargers for mr for $10.00 each!

I have the "Tool Shed" version from rural King.

It's almost dead accurate on the car but interestingly almost 4 degrees off on humans.

Measures surface temperature. Oral and rectal temps are different as are armpit and ear.

Sorry, those are cheaply made and throwaways.

...but there are scads of devices out there that look externally identical, and are used in the same way on humans, and are accurate (at least within 1 degree or so).

I wore sunglasses, a ball cap, and mask into the Autozone the other day. Employee at the door took my temperature pointing at my neck. Said 38 degrees (centigrade) which was evidently too high and he gave me the option to stand aside and have the temp retaken after I don't know how long a waiting period.

Then I remembered never having had my temperature taken using my neck as a target, so I took off my ball cap and suggested the employee try again using my forehead as a target. He did so, called out 37 degrees, and allowed me inside the store.

I saw a nurse take the temperature of my fresh genuine urine sample one time, I'll bet that was accurate (but that was either by dipping into the golden liquid or the container had a gauge built into the side of it). It probably was for drug testing for employment (was a long time ago, don't remember any more details).

I have one hell of a time at the doctor's office, the doctor and her helpers are all attractive, and when they want to take my "vitals" they are ALL SCREWED UP!!!

I should be ashamed of myself I guess, but I'm NOT!!

A nurse is filling out a patient's chart... She reaches into her shirt pocket and pulls out a thermometer then says, "Some asshole has my pen"....
