1968 Barracuda Notch 340

Here's a comparison. Pics are before rear suspension mods and fender additions

After 1.5" de arch and 1" block plus 2.25" fender lip drop. I'm not a big fan of the flat/slammed look so I kept some rake in the car

Not bad. Equal distance between rims and fender lips is best, unless you’re going with over sized rims

Have you considered a Shaker hood scoop? You'll want to get one that is made for a 99 Dakota so it's sized to proportion.
Looks like I need another insane fab challenge, 340 is going in soon so I can begin fabbing in a Shaker Hood!

July 2020
I scrapped the Shaker hood for this idea " 8 barrel hood" took 4 months to create. Wish I could upload the videos. Butterflies are mechanically actuated off the carb throttle

My Ram Hemi Sport got some love at the 200k mile mark with a detail and having the factory fender decals repopped with Crazy Cuda green. I added a smaller call out to the tail gate and a bit of green striping. Today the truck is pushing 300k miles so for this mileoversary I repainted the fading scoop and exterior door trim. Back bumper had a smack so I replaced, color/ clear/ cut and buffed it as well. For some design fun I had an 18" Mopar M and smaller Hemi Sport decals made for the scoop

After quickly coloring the mottled hood to better see its features I really liked it so decided to scrap the Shaker Hood idea. Then this idea popped in my head- functional 8 barrel hood. Stainless plates and butterflies done. Starting on plenums to air cleaner.

I think it's a neat idea. I can't wait to see it finished. You may have said, but what, if anything, are you doing here? Extending the fenders? Or trimming that header?

Edit: maybe you fixed it already. Some of the pics look like you did.

Yes this is completely unfinished. The black nose piece is fabric mocking up the look of the custom nose piece still to be built. After that piece is done I'll have the proper cross section on the ends to build the trim filler pieces for the headlight/ fender gaps. Much work to do yet

Holley 3310 landed last night. Oval air cleaner fits between plenum recievers. Got a jump on throttle bracket mods, next I'll add tabs to mount the 8 barrel hood actuator cables.

Waiting on machine work being done on the butterfly hood plate assemblies. The throttle and 8 barrel hood actuator cables are done @ carb. In the interim I purchased the Mopar valve covers ive had my eye on, removed the blue lettering paint and installed

Machine work on butterfly plates almost done. Got the top steel connecting piece shaped. Air cleaner hole in template finalized. I used foam blocks and a bore scope through the firewall to find the depth needed to encapsulate the entire air cleaner. Im going to use the white template board as a mold for a finished fiberglass cover. I'll put the template on the bench, build an air cleaner opening ring at the correct elevation, then using spray foam or concrete I'll fill from the ring sloping out to the template perimeter. This will be my mold for the finished 3d fiberglass plenum cover

Butterfly assemblies complete with adjustable stops and torsion return springs. Plenum cover fresh out of the mold this morning, I'm pretty shocked this worked.

8 barrel hood finished about a month ago. I began a full fit up of engine, headers, steering and z bar to make sure everything fits before final disassembly. Dougs headers are a great fit however struggling with p/s box. Header installs easily without box, but no room ro reinstall box and vice versa. I'll find a way. Converting stock distributor to electronic. Waiting on chrome pulleys and alternator, alt. Brackets. Upgraded to a drop in copper 4 row radiator, water pump and fuel pump installed. I imagine I'll fire this motor within the next few weeks.

Borgeson power steering boxes are smaller if power steering is an issue
Thanks Matt, was just revisiting their wares. Moparhead has same car, p/s too, and same headers with pics of everything installed. Maybe he can shed some light.
