My dad is going through a couple things on his 70' Challenger T/A (bought the day he graduated from high school and has been owned by him since 77') and took out the back seats to see their condition....I think the picture says more than words...to bad my Duster wasnt like this when I got it.

Cool! Is it the right sheet? Hear alot of stories how the T/A and AAR cars had their build sheets mixed up, sounds like the seats were just thrown in any car after those were built.

I'd CAREFULLY remove that build sheet and store it in an acid free plastic sleeve. Make a nice photo copy to keep in a separate archive....just in case....

Yeah. I think he was going to do that today in fact. He always talked about taking the seat out and saving the build sheet...

As a pre-caution, wrap wire around all the metal around it, get 2 or 3 friends to lift the the wires up while holding the seat down and you gently slide it out.
If it gets stuck and starts to tear===STOP and re-adjust.

Agree with putting original in secure storage. I'd suggest 2 hard copies and a digital image. The first copy, I'd put back in the seat. The second copy, and the digital image, are just to have around for display or whatever.

Black leather interior & deluxe seat belts?

I can not make out the VIN, but do I see Y13 at the top right?

Please ask him to check inside the bucket seats for additional sheets when he can. With the leather interior he may find another one for the car, but it is also possible that he may find one or two for other cars as well.

Leather interior T/As are fairly scarce so far.

Dad was saying that the interior package that is in his car is one of only a handful. His car is Top Banana and never had a vinyl roof either so that also made it rare (for the origonal yellow T/As) It also has the carpet on the door panels...pretty rare setup overall.

All 1970 Challengers with cloth or leather interiors also got the carpeted lower door panels & rear seat ashtrays as part of the H5 & HR interiors.

So far, Banana T/As are the second most common color, purple being the most common.

I just counted the Banana T/As that I am aware of so far for you, 61 have painted tops to match the body, 50 have black vinyl tops & 1 has a white vinyl top.

Please keep in mind that there are still about one half of all T/As produced that I have no option codes for yet, so these numbers may go up at any time.

I have heard of only two Banana T/As with the black leather interiors so far, is your dad's name Brian by chance?

Haha yeah his name is Brian. I never knew he registered his car.

He hasn't- yet. ;-)

If he wants to, he can, the registration form can be printed out at http://www.challengertaregistry.com/register.html

Years ago, Tom Quadrini saved some of the old SIAC club membership forms from going in the trash. He let me borrow them to make copies. There are three forms with your dad's name & the T/A VIN on them. Email me with your mailing address & I will get them to you so you can surprise him if you like?

Perfect. His still has all of his SIAC stuff (shirts, badges, stickers etc) Sounds like it was a neat group. I will PM you my address and have you send those to me. Ill also print off that form so he can register his car.

They will leave here tommorow. :)

Can you please ask him to check both of the front seat backs for additional broadcast sheets? If he finds any, for his car or others I would love to see scans.
