Chrome Drip Rails

I have a 69 dart that has painted drip rails my question is can I remove the corner piece and install the chrome rails in place of the painted ones. As far as I can tell there is just a very small piece at the top of the window that has to be removed but thought I would ask you gurus opinion. Thanks

Yes, did it on mine. Just tack weld the remaining ends together before installing the s/s rails.

But on the other car I have that has the chrome drip rails there is just a space there, can I not just leave the space the way it is or will the water drip down ???
