Going to be over 100F here in SoCal for the next few days so I thought I'd mix up a batch of lemonade to help rehydrate while doing yardwork. Just for kicks and giggles I checked out the label of the frozen lemonade concentrate I buy from Trader Joe's.
After finding out there's 27grams of "liquid invert sugars" (whatever they are) in every 8 ounces of finished lemonade, I saw a statement saying "country of origin on end of can". Expecting to see maybe Mexico or another warm climate country, since this in lemonade after all, I was shocked to see "Product of Canada".
Turns out the lemon juice concentrate, and probably also the lemon pulp and lemon oil are exported from the USA to Canada for mixing (with the sugars and Canadian water?), packaged and then imported back into the USA.
This is the most economical way to make and market frozen lemonade concentrate?
Really?

It is probably a Canadian company just buying American lemons instead of mexican lemons
or some other cheap third world,or south American lemons to make the juice. You should be happy that you are getting good quality American lemons in your juice,
and that this company supports American farmers and both our economies. I
know when I am at the grocery store I always try to buy Canadian products first and
if I can not, then I look for that product of the U.S.A. tag . It is a trust of quality
and support thing. Cheers

no worse than bottled lemonade (orange juice, whatever) in stores that is "from concentrate". So they take juice, take the water out, add water, then sell it. Makes sense to me lol.

Imagine this. Going into the grocery store and lookin at all the little knots they call peaches. Keep in mind, Georgia IS the PEACH STATE. Roll the little bastards over and the sticker says "Product of South America".
