Exactly where do you measure the flywheel to determine the clutch size?

My flywheel is clearly marked by the wear pattern the clutch disc left on it. This flywheel is out of an early A body, so the clutch disc is a little over nine inches. Later models will probably be ten and a half inches. Notice the pressure plate is the same size as the disc. Obviously, this clutch is shot and the flywheel will need to be resurfaced.
