My MSD Blaster 2 coil is leaking some oil where the coil wire plugs in, is it going bad? It seems to work fine. I have it mounted at an angle on the intake (see picture), Thanks!

Unrelated to your coil post but I have to say thumbs up to your engine bay, it looks awesome, that manifold done up red with the commando covers looks sweet!!!

Keith,
Knowing what is do about high voltage as an Radio Engineer, I would change out your coil. The secondary wiring (the one that produces the high voltage) generates a lot of heat. It's the oils job to transfer the heat to the metal shell of the coil case for cooling. The loss of oil from your coil is like the loss of coolant from your radiator, sooner or later it is going to overheat and leave you stranded.

i am with him. get a new one. you may try the blaster II that is for 4x4's. its filled with epoxy or make a bracket for the blaster SS square style.

I had the same thing happen with the Mopar coil, which is made by MSD,
before the engine ever ran.Tightened the screw inside the tower and it
was fine.I bought a new one too but have not had to change it out
yet.This was 3 yrs ago.

MSD's tech line pretty much said the same thing. Their instructions say mount the coil upright and they reiterated it when I called them up several months back. Even though the way you have it mounted, it doesn't look too severe. But if you are leaking oil, that coil will eventually overheat. Some members have the coil mounted horizontally and haven't had any problems either, so it's hit or miss.
