colt rear susp.question

using a 8 3/4 cut down close to a factory colt's length.running small 26x8.5 tire to eliminate cutting unibody rails.stock 360motor,so maybe without a bunch of stall it'll hook.my question is this:looks like one good hook-up and the colt springs would be in the scrap bucket....would ladder bars save em'? not a super welder-and don't wanna 4 link it....trying to make as much of the factory stuff work as possible.trying to show my son that he who spends most doesn't always win at bracket racing.also trying to one up our 440 D50 in the way of consistensy.

if there is enough room for ladder bars remember to add a slider or floater to the leaf springs or even go to coil-overs.
