Found another set of commando valve covers buried with some bulk parts I got from an estate sale & had'nt been thru. These have a breather tube on driver side but not passenger(has pcv grommet). Thought all original commandos had breather tubes on each, but not sure about 67's. Are these copies or were some different. Thanks.

My commando valve covers on my '67 cuda are just like that...breather tube on the driver's side and a pcv (with a grommet) on the passenger's side.

I often wondered if this was correct as most of the other commando valve covers I've seen and two sets which I've purchased do, indeed, have the breather tubes on both covers. :dontknow:

I think commando valve covers also have different wiring straps (can't think of a better word other than strap) on the passenger side covers depending on the year.

Perhaps others will chime in and clarify the differences.

Those are correct for 67 only. 64, 65, 66 had stack tubes on each and were the same except for wire loom tabs on passenger side.

The only thing I would add is ; 1966 covers were a combination of features...2 "stove pipes" and the extra large bracket on the near cover.

Thanks for the info. Found 3 boxes at this estate sale marked Misc. mopar/dart stuff & took a gamble on them. Would not open boxes prior to sale so I had no idea of content. Got lucky for once. Ended up with a charger 273 air cleaner(from a dart) with original base & some 10" SBP rear brake drums and the valve covers plus some dart trim pieces that can't be salvaged. Already have cleaned up the aircleaner & added a 273 commando sticker. Valve covers need some work but are restorable & the drums are nice. I am having a good week. Thanks again on the valvecover info.

Nice score. You know what those Commando air cleaners go for on ebay, right? I bought one at the Portland Swap meet this year....for $5.00!!. The guy said it came off a Falcon...hehehe....well, not originally, it didn't!

Good deals are still out there, guys. You just be in the right place at the right time.

I found this pair of small bolt rally's centers and wheels for $40 and a pair of ring for $3 dolors at the swap meet on Petit Jean MT this week end

Yep they are still out there.

No. I'm keeping the drums. SBP stuff that will fit & 8 3/4 is getting hard to find.

brand new drums for my '70 SBP 8.75" were available at my local napa for (i think) about $35 each. I know that i got all new parts to completely rebuild the brakes for it for $90 (wheel cyl's, drums, shoes, adjuster kit and spring kit)

Thanks CudaChick. Looking forward to restoring the valve covers. Thinking about putting the commando setup on my cuda & in true oldschool fashion hiding the fact she has a well tweaked 340.
