I've looked with the search feature and only got more confused. Please help. I have a stock Duster (1974), automatic, slant six, with a 7.25 inch rear end. It currently has 14 inch stock wheels on it. I want to get bigger tires and Cragar SS supersport mags. With my configuration, what is the largest size of tire and wheel that I can fit without any rubbing? I like the look of the wheels/tires being partially covered by the wheel well. I don't want to modify the wheel well.

first, you need to make sure of your bolt pattern. most older cragars have a 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 backspace which is fine. i prefer 15" rims on all my stuff because tire options are much better. i have used 14x5 with 195/70s all the way up to 15x10 with 275/60/15s

I have 225 70 14's all the way around. But it's very close up front. If you want all 4 the same size, I would recommend 235 60 14's or 245 60 14's on 7 x 14 Cragars. If you go 15 then maybe 235 60 15's. If you want to go wider than you need to lower the aspect ratio. for example; 255 55 14 or 275 45 15.

..if you want it to look stock with a bit of attitude 23560/15 x7 on the rear and 21565/15 x 6 on the front is a nice balance.
if you want that radical big little thing going on then 275/60/15 x 8 on the rear might be what your after.

Looks like 215/65 on 15x6 rims (3 3/8" backspacing) on the front and 235/60 on 15x7 rims (4 1/8" backspacing. Does this sound like a safe bet on a 1974 stock Duster?

That's what I went with. A little rubbing when turning left on the right side front and left side rear fender. I trimmed the front ever so slightly. The rear I was able to bend slightly. It's tight!
