Hey, Im not gonna be able to use a stock shifter on my car, and even if i could they are getting way to expensive to find. I want the car to look good, clean, and original looking, so i was wondering if anyone has fitted an aftermarket shifter in a original 68'-70' barracuda console? If so how hard was it? I realy dont want to just buy a cheesy looking HURST, or B&M shifter and just bolt it to the floor. Thanks for any feedback!

Well Colton I am going to be doing the same thing with a console for my 73 Dart Swinger. I agree with you on the "cheesy looking" idea... but some cars look good with it lol.

My idea to you is that you find out the measurments of a few shifters you like and pick one that is close to fitting the exsiting shifter cut-out. Just to limit the amount of work needed and cutting up of the original console. I would also look at shifters at car cruises and car shows and talk to the owners and find out how much the shifter handle travels.

I wont be doing this mod until later so you are on your own for now!

This is an old Hurst Competition Plus in an A-body Barracuda with center console.

i don't know how good or experienced you are with fiberglass but i am going to be building a custom console around my b&m shifter as soon as i get the car running i got it all drawn out and everything i just need to measure a couple times and start building i will post pictures of it as soon as get it done but it may take a few weeks
