I think that my 727 had been changed to a manuel change (ref. to previous thread), is it a big job to convert it back to auto while g'box is in car. I saw a manuel conversion kit from Summit and it looked like there was not much it the kit so I'm hoping that it may be a simple job as I have the pan of the g'box.

Changing a valve body is no big deal. FINDING one in your part of the world might be a trick, although you can order performance bodies that are not manual, just tricked up for performance shifts.

BUT.......I have a manual in my car and LOVE it.

Easy to find out. Just put it in "drive" and if it starts out slow, in 3rd

Then put in 2nd and start out. A normal vb (in 2) starts in 1st, and shifts to 2nd, but then not up from there.

So if you put it into 2 and it starts and stays in 2nd, you have a manual.

Tony, plenty of parts over here. Car not running yet, but not to far off. Its a 'on the tree' shift which I think woul be akward to change. So its just a valve body change?
Cheers,

Heh.......Del, not Tony.

Tony Rome was a fictional private detective played by Frank Sinatra. I thought it was a great movie, and had a (at the time) fairly hot co-star, Jill St. John. In 1967, when that movie came out, I was about 19, and several of us lusted after her over a beer or two She was a "Bond girl" in "Diamonds are Forever"
