Got a funny build going on and I'll post pics if it works. Cannot find a reason to think it won't. some smart guy tell me what I'm doing wrong please. I have a mild build going on that uses a very mild solid flat tappet .325" lobe 320lbs open spring pressure and no need to complicate. I thought to modify the stock rocker mounts to allow adjustability. I removed much of the base and drilled the 5/16" to 3/8" to fit the new studs. I am using guide plates with this set up. Seems very simple but I haven't heard of anyone doing something as seemingly simple. I'm guessing I'll figure out why it's not done by all.
 
Just buy the kit from Crane or the rockers from Hughes that's made for to do it. I almost went that route on my Frankenteen motor. It's very popular. Trust me. You ain't the first.
 
I've built dozens of these some I put aftermarket valvetrain on and others not,why again should I buy those parts? Be clear with your response. Please. Thanks

What? Are you asking me to point out someone that's put adjustable rockers on a Magnum headed motor? Man, you're crazy as a bed bug. Do your own leg work. I told you HUGHES ENGINES makes MAGNUM SPECIFIC roller rockers. CRANE makes a kit to convert them. The Crane kit has been out probably thirty years since it is the same as the small block Ford kit.

You are right Rusty, there are proven aftermarket options available. However the question isn't if anyone has installed aftermarket adjustable rockers, it's whether or not anyone has modified the stock rockers to be adjustable. I think it just got lost in there somewhere.

What he's proposing is to cut the bottom off the rocker (where it contacts the pedestal), and then stud mount them just like the aftermarket rockers, thereby making them adjustable. Seems like it could work to me, but I don't have enough engine building experience to say whether or not it would work. I do know I'll be keeping an eye out to see how this pans out.

Well nowhere in his convoluted question did he make that clear. It was bout clear as curdled chocolate milk.

Since you did make it clear, what "I" would in that case would be to mill off the "pedestal" portion of the fulcrum and that should just about do it right there. You might even could get by using the same pushrods. Sorry I misunderstood. Thanks UOP for clearing it up. Sorry to the OP for missing the point. Looks like I was being obtuse. lol
 
I took it to mean "an inexpensive way to convert to adjustable rockers," not necessarily commercial, and not necessarily ROLLER

Yep,I guess I made things unclear. I cut .200" off the pedestals and drilled them for a 3/8" stud. Pretty easy stuff. Simple valve train for a mild solid cam with a little boost. I think 750hp will be cake. Never seen anyone do this only buy stuff. LOL I've done the same but on this mild combo I think a little testing is all it will take. guess time will tell.
