What is the correct gas cap for a '66 Barracuda Form. S?
Mine is all chrome with a straight handle across the lid. Is this correct or is it the all chrome cap with a curved handle or another type?

I believe it's supposed to be painted body color with a straight handle horizontal to the ground

Most were body color but they made some chrome ones too. They all had a straight, horizontal bar like 65 Dartman says above. Stant was the OEM but their replacements in the auto parts stores were different. The surface wasn't flat and they had a "S" shaped black handle. There were many companies that made a replacement back then but they all looked a little different. Look on e-bay and see how many different ones you can find! Some fit better than others too. I've seen some recent repops that look like the originals but I haven't bought one to see how they fit.

My Formula S cap was body color with the straight handle, ditto on the 64 Cuda. I know mine were original. I don't know if I would care myself.

the original cap on my grandmothers 66 that she bought new was painted to match with a straight handle

Theres a member on here that machines caps for early a's. They look pretty sharp, and cost way less than the stock replacement. Idk if he's still around though..

Stant makes a straight handle cap that doesnt fit, buy you can hit the locking tangs with a grinder and it fits. Sand it and paint it body color. It should pass 98% of gawkers....

Thx, everyone...looks like there seems to be a couple of differences. With all the chrome on a '66 Barracuda I like the all chrome cap I have....even if a body color cap is correct, I don't have any paint left from my resto to match it.
