What would be the correct steering wheel for 68 GTS 4 speed, I have a wheel, but does not fit it bottoms out on the collar.

seems like I do have the correct one, I removed the steering colum and didn't see anything out of place, seems like the shaft needs to be longer, also should there be a spacer washer under the wheel?

Your shaft is partially collapsed . Take it out and there are what looks to be plastic pins through the flat area . Get that plastic out by what ever means I use heat and poke them out after softening them. Then realign the holes on the inner and outer shaft by tapping it back or forward. Fill the hole back in completely until it comes out the other side with JB weld Quick wrap it with masking tape so it doesn't ooze out and let it harden overnight. Do not hit on the wheel hard when installing it as this is probably what happened to it originally.

sounds like a plan, I'll give it a try tomorrow, Thank You

As far as I know, every column shaft has a small groove below the spline where a snap ring sits above the upper bearing. Otherwise the shaft would slide down through that bearing.

I got it figured out someone installed the top bearing incorrectly they had it under the collar
