I disassembled my slant timing cover few months ago.
Today at last got time to install new chain and sprochets, gasket, seal, damper, radiator.

After everything in place I noticed this damn slinger in the table.
This happens when there is much time between disassembly and assembly.. didnot remember this part at all.

Anybody else forgot this? How important it is?
I assume new crank seal is much better than old neopreme, so it would not leak so easily, or will it?

The only thing it really does is keep oil off the front crank seal. With today's modern seals, I wouldn't worry about it. I've torn down a lot of engines that didn't have them. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I'm sure around here though, opinions will vary. lol

Search function............Consensus seems to be that it will not be a problem. Looks like lots of folks forget to put it in.

Thank you for responses. I thought also that good seal would cover this missing slinger.

Hope somebody who drives without that thing could confirm that.
