Hello.
last year i bought a 1977 360 engine.
I have taken it apart to renovate it, but i have run into problems with the main bearings running tight, the wax thread being masted out to 5-6mm which equates to less than 002 inch clearance, which is way too tight?.
I have tried two sets of main bearings from speed pro and I think maybe I should try another brand of bearings? and see if that can solve the problem.
the crank is standard dimensions

Are you using the correct plastigauge for your application? Green was what I used for my engine. .001 - .003 IIRC.

Do not order more bearings. If you are ordering anything, order green plastigauge and check the clearance again.
How much power are you trying to make? A mostly stock 360 engine can use stock bearing clearance as low as .0005" and run 10W30 engine oil. Measure it again.
