Cross ram carbs

wondering what carbs would work best for a 472 hemi with crossram..as far as cfm's. I want manual choke and I assume mech. secondaries, and I found 450 cfm hollies for $289 each. Would that be a good route? Its mainly a street car, and I think 900 cfm would be fine, as I have a 850 single dp holley on it now.I have seen that the oringinals had 770 cfm I believe? Sounds like alot! Just looking for suggestions, as I get lost in this kinda stuff.. thanks!
 
I run 2 600 mechanical holley carbs on my 360 street/strip car

The only problem I see using the other carbs than the "correct" ones is the fuel lines would be plumbed "backwards"..
 
I sure wouldn't waste money on 450s for a Hemi. That even sounds ghey.

lol... i told me boss you were gonna run 450's and he laughed... these things are monsters and will take every bit of 2 770's...

just curious whats your motor build?

EDIT: 2 of the 4 pics i posted are street motors... purple dart is a 472 and the orange one is a 528... both run on pump premium (91) and have A/C...
 
My brother has a 526 hemi runs it at the strip with 2 500 holleys vacume runs 10.35 130 mph in 1/4 mile. and drives it to the strip.

then why does mopar performance recommend an 850 holley dp for the crate 472's? In my book 450+450=900. 50 more than recommended. too much carb runs like ****..

becasue a crate 472 is junk compared to a home built hemi... the Eddy heads that mopar uses and licensed are crap... stage V is the best head due to the R&D they have done (and did i mention there about the same price lol... and we run race hemi's on the street, pull some cam and duration out of it and they are very happy...

and the mopar performance book also tells you to run like 80-85 range jetting (different in every corner) and they really need to be about 72-75 (different in every corner)

Oh you hush up. Haven't you heard? Since you have a slant six, you got no credo around here at all. Who cares that you build $100K plus Super Stock cars for a livin? lol
 
wow, you guys come out with great advice as requested and the guy comes out dropping what i perceive to be insults on people that obviously know what they are talking about. if you dont want to hear opinions dont ask....how does 1540 cfm grab you on a 472 CI hemi street car....

you right! i do have a slant car... but i also have an AWB Plymouth that i am hand building... with a 512 RB motor...

and lastly... i was not trying to be rude or a know it... these things suck like nothing else... well other than a bigger hemi lol... but anyways... the 770 correct carbs are vac secondary which is why there is no issues running them...

you can run what ever you want but they will have no issues with the dual 770's...
 
A pair of Holley 1850s (600cfm) would look correct and can be bought used super cheap. Or I'll sell you a new pair of the correct 770s and repo fuel lines for $1200.
