Gonna be hard to figure out. The only viable Chrysler-badged car is the 300 so are we gonna see the death of Chrysler as a nameplate ala Plymouth? Is the 300 going to bite the dust or be used as an upscale Charger package with Dodge badges? From what I've seen on autoblog and a few other sites Fiat seems determined that the SRT group is going to stay intact and for 2010 or '11 the 6.4L (392) 500 horse engine will be replacing the 6.1L as the basis for the SRT8 package, the 6.1 will be the engine going into the R/T's, and the 5.7 will be a strictly truck motor.
With Fiat coming on board they bring to the table the already fuel efficient cars that the government is demanding under the new CAFE standards, but the government is like the car companies: don't listen to what the publics wants, force it on us. Truck sales fell off 20% over the last year, while Pruis sales fell off 48%. The statics show, yet again, that the American buying public wants larger vehicles that will withstand a crash, not little fuel efficient econoboxes that are speedbumps for SUVs and pickups.
