can i use a dana 60 from a ford f250 and just cut the housing to fit my dart?i well be using aftermarket axles in it.

Cut it down and put the appropriate housing ends on it, no problem.

thanks,i would go with a 8 3/4,but they are pricy.my local junk yard has dana 60 all over.

Ford F250 rear. Cut down with strange 8 3/4 housing ends, moser axles and stock mopar 10" x 2 1/2 brakes.

If you get your pick of the litter make sure you get one with a decent gear ratio and power loc. I got right at 1k in mine

I would recommend trying to find one from a late 60's lighter duty truck. If it has a limited slip carrier in it, it will be a Powr Lok. And the housing itself is significantly lighter than the larger and later trucks have. It won't weigh down your car so much, be plenty strong, and have a good carrier.

But be careful. Mine was a 68 housing and it had 16 spline axles. Which ment the side gears and clutch hubs were wrong. I had to buy the peices to convert it to 30 spline.

the junk yard has alot of 80's trucks in it.i'am going with a lot hp so i well upgrade the axles and posi unit.

I'd check with strange or moser on a complete new rear end first. Time you buy your junkyard rear and have it cut down and new ends welded on and buy new axles and suregrip and have it put together your probably not to far off the cost of a new S60. Just my 2 cents.

Plenty of Danas built with JY beginnings for under 1K with some frugal shopping.
